When clicks cost $50, $100, or even $140 each, high CPCs are not actually what kills your campaigns.
Data starvation is.
When your Google Ads account gets starved of clicks and conversions. It triggers pure panic.
I know, you see zero results. You feel like money is vanishing into thin air and your instinct is to lock everything down. Tighten match types. Add negatives. Reset your bids. But white knuckling your account actually suffocates the very data the system needs to find your ideal buyers.
Here's the reality you need to know. In high CPC or low volume niches, traditional Google Ads optimization playbooks can be actively dangerous. I have seen so many businesses kill campaigns prematurely that were actually working or blowing their budget on clicks that were cheaper but were never going to convert.
Let's stop playing defense with our Google Ads optimizations and instead diagnose what kind of problem you're actually facing so we can fix it.
In today's episode, I'm going to share two specific examples from two of my Google Ads coaching clients who were struggling with high CPCs and no results.
I hope you'll recognize your own situation in at least one of these stories so that you have a clear path forward.
This is Inside Google Ads: Episode 145, the Google Ads Starvation Trap.
[At this point in the episode Jyll shares this story about how Chloe beat high CPCs, and then this story about how Ariana stopped suffocating her leads]
